Are you passionate about cooking? Would you like to learn more about Jordan’s traditional meals while exploring some of its most famous destinations? If yes, then this is the tour for you. Join us on this 8-day, guided trip and get the chance to prepare some of the most delicious Jordanian dishes with some of the country’s most famous locations acting as your backdrop.

Starting from Amman, this trip will take you to both Petra and Wadi Rum before coming to an end in the Dead Sea from where you will travel back to the airport on the last day of the tour. Cook galayah with freshly picked tomatoes in Amman. Preparing mansaf in Petra and learn the art of preparing zarb from the nomadic Bedouins in Wadi Rum.

The other dishes that you will prepare during the trip includes magluba, hummus and the local favourite, taboun bread, which is still made in ovens that are hundreds of years old. Get the opportunity to interact with locals throughout the duration of the trip and learn more about their culture. For more details, please go through the itinerary below.

Day 1

Arrival at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman and meet our representative. He will assist you with the visa procedures and walk you through the customs area to the luggage hall. Meet the driver upon clearing the customs and transfer to your hotel in Amman for an overnight stay.

Day 2

Explore Amman during a city tour and see some of the city’s most famous sights, including its citadel and Roman theatre, before driving toward Jerash, one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the country.

Transfer back to Amman. Meet the chef of Beit Sitti Restaurant and visit the vegetable market in downtown Amman. Learn to cook tabbouleh, hummus, maqloubeh and a dessert. Enjoy your dinner!

Day 3

You have 2 options depends on the season. If your arrival coincides with winter or spring seasons, your driver will meet you at the hotel and drive you to Madaba to visit the St. George Church, known for its famous mosaic map. Continue your journey to Mt. Nebo, from where Moses is said to have surveyed the Promised Land.

Head for Ghor al Mazraa to participate in Bandoora Day. Bandoora is the Arabic word for tomato. Help the locals with harvesting tomatoes and prepare galayah (a local dish with tomatoes as the main ingredients) with them.

Time permitting, you will also get the chance to learn to prepare kohol from olive oil as well as the traditional art of spinning wool and weaving baskets. Transfer to Petra for dinner and stay there overnight

In case you book this tour for the summer or the autumn season then you will leave the hotel at 7:30 AM and drive to Ajlune. Explore the Ajlune Castle and enjoy great views from there before transferring to Jdeit, where you will get the chance to help the locals harvest fruits and prepare a traditional dish for lunch.

Collect wild herbs and pine cones with the locals after lunch and learn how to roast and cook them. Take a walking tour of the village and interact with the locals before transferring to Petra, where you will be staying overnight.

Day 4

You have a full day to explore Petra. See the Treasury, Siq and the Street of Facades as well as the Theatre and Colonnade Street. If you can still find some time, you will get the chance to hiking to the Monastery and/or the High Place of Sacrifice.

Bake taboon bread with a local family in a traditional oven. Also learn to prepare fattah and enjoy a traditional Bedouin meal.

Day 5

You are free to explore Petra on your own in the morning. You might as well visit the Royal Tombs and other destinations that you have missed.

Help a local family with milking sheep in the afternoon. The milk will be used to prepare jameed, used to prepare the famous local dish mansaf. Head for little Petra with the locals and prepare mansaf.

Day 6

Drive to Wadi Rum for a half-day desert jeep safari. You also have the option of riding a camel in the desert. Prepare barbecued chicken with your driver for lunch. The jeep tour ends at a campsite located in the middle of the desert. Prepare zarb, yet another traditional Bedouin dish, in the evening.

Day 7

Drive to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on the earth’s surface, after breakfast. Today is all about relaxing while float in the salty waters of the sea. There is no cooking course included today.

Day 8

Transfer to the airport in Amman to catch your departure flight back home. You will need to leave the hotel 3 hours in advance to catch your flight.
