Day 1Welcome to Moscow!

You’ve just landed in the amazing country of Russia, full of tradition, innovation, and deep cultural roots. Arrive at the airport in Moscow, where you will be greeted by your driver. You will then be taken to your hotel by private vehicle. Check in and relax from your long flight. The rest of the day is yours to use as you wish – hang out in your room or get acquainted with the city on your own.

Day 2The Heart of Russia

Wake up to a hearty breakfast at your hotel. Then, it’s off into the city! Spend the day discovering the best of Moscow, Russia’s capital as well as its cultural, political, and religious center. Start your city tour with a visit to some of the city’s most famous landmarks, including the Red Square and Saint Basil’s Cathedral. Then move on to visit the famous Kremlin, the official presidential residence and symbolic center of power in the country. The grounds include numerous palaces, cathedrals, and the Kremlin Wall; it also includes numerous UNESCO World Heritage Sites. End your tour of the city with a stroll past the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Kremlin and the Moskva River. Then, return to your hotel for your overnight stay.

Day 3Do you Like Art?

After breakfast, meet your guide and head to the Tretyakov Gallery in the charming Zamoskvorechye district. The Tretyakov features the largest collection of Russian art the world has to offer! It showcases more than 100,000 pieces of art that span from medieval times to the present day. The building itself is worth the visit, once a private hotel belonging to art collector Pavel Tretyakov. Afterwards, take a break for lunch (not included). The afternoon is filled with some of Moscow’s most stunning architecture. Visit one of the most beautiful metro stations in the city and the Novodevichy Convent and its cemetery, a stunning example of the Muscovite Baroque style. In the evening, return to your hotel.

Day 4Visit the Golden Ring

Begin your day with breakfast. Use today to continue your journey through Russia. Today you will head to the Golden Ring, a series of towns that showcase important pieces of Russian history, architecture and religion. Your first stop of the day is in Sergiev Posad. Here, visit the Trinity Lavra of Saint Sergius, one of the centers of Russia’s Orthodox church. Afterwards, continue on to Pereslavl-Zalessky, an ancient city on the shores of Lake Plescheevo. Here, stop by the Monastery of Goritsy and discover the town’s historical center. Then, transfer to your last stop of the day in Rostov Veliky, where you can check into your hotel.

Day 5Visit the Rostov Kremlin

Wake up and enjoy your breakfast. Then, meet your guide, who will take you to visit the majestic Rostov Kremlin. It is widely considered to be one of the most beautiful Kremlins in Russia. Continue on to see the Monastery of Saint Jacob and the wooden church of Bogoslov. In the afternoon, head to the city of Yaroslav. Spend the afternoon exploring the city without your guide, and see where your feet lead you! Return to your hotel for your overnight stay.

Day 6Visit Captivating Kostroma

After you’ve enjoyed your breakfast, head into the historical center of Yaroslavl. Visit the inspiring Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Savior and the Church of the Prophet Eli. In the afternoon, continue your exploration of the Golden Ring in the town of Kostroma. Upon arrival, meet your knowledgeable local guide, who will take you to the Ipatiev Monastery, the historical town center, and the exciting market. You guide can answer any questions you may have about the city and its history. The last stop of the day will be in the city of Plyos, where you can enjoy the evening in your comfortable guesthouse.

Day 7Discover the Town of Suzdal

Wake up to a refreshing breakfast at your hotel. Then, wander through Plyos with your guide. Head to the house-museum of Isaac Levitan, one of Russia’s most famous painters whose works fascinate his audience. In the afternoon, head to the town of Suzdal, where you can proceed to explore on your own. Retire for the night at your hotel.

Day 8Explore the History of Suzdal

Start the day off with a delicious breakfast. Your guide will meet you in the hotel lobby for a walking tour around the historic center of Suzdal. Visit the beautiful Cathedral of Nativity, and discover local history at the Museum of Wooden Architecture and the Monastery of Saint Euthymius. In the afternoon, explore more of the city on your own, or optionally take an excursion to meet a local family and learn about the customs and traditions of the people of Suzdal. In the evening, return to your hotel and spend a relaxing night at your hotel.

Day 9Delve into Russia’s Past around Suzdal

After breakfast, your guide will pick you up for a tour of the fascinating ancient villages surrounding Suzdal. Start in Kideksha, where you will visit the Church of Saint Boris and Gleb. From here, travel to the village of Bogolyubovo, and discover the famous Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin on the Nerl and the Monastery of Bogolyubovo. The third stop on your trip today is the ancient settlement of Vladimir. Visit the Golden Gate and the Cathedral of the Dormition with its famous Andrei Rublev frescoes. Spend some time walking around this old village and take in the atmosphere of long-past eras. After dinner in town, your guide will take you to the train station, where you will board the overnight train to Saint Petersburg.

Day 10Discover the Wonders of Saint Petersburg

Arrive in Saint Petersburg in the morning. Your guide will await you at the platform and take you on a tour around the city. Visit the Peter-and-Paul Fortress, as well as the Cathedral where the remains of the Romanovs are buried. After lunch, continue to the Hermitage. It is home to an impressive collection of remarkable pieces of art, ranging from Antiquity to the classical period. They contain works from artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Rogier van der Weyden, and Rembrandt. After this exciting day in the city, retire to your comfortable hotel and spend a relaxing evening and night.

Day 11Visit the Famous Palace of Catherine I

Start the day with a wonderful breakfast at your luxury hotel. Your guide will pick you up for a tour to the world-famous Tsarskoe Selo. Visit the Catherine Palace and admire the gilded carvings, seven-meter-high windows, optical illusions created by mirrors facing each other, and a plafond glorifying the greatness of Russia and its empress. In the afternoon, continue to Pavlovsk Palace and Park, the famous summer palace of Emperor Paul I. The impressive palace is built in the style of neoclassicism and borders a 600-hectare park, one of the largest landscape parks in all of Europe. Explore the vastness and beauty of this area, before returning to Saint Petersburg for the night.

Day 12Visit the Yusupov Palace

Today, your guide will take you to visit the Yusupov Palace and the accompanying exhibition about Grigory Rasputin. Make a stop at the nearby Cathedral Saint Isaac and its towering colonnade that provides an incredible view over the city. In the afternoon, enjoy free time to explore more of Saint Petersburg on your own. Return to your hotel in the evening.

Day 13Explore the Kremlin in Veliky Novgorod

After a delicious breakfast, your guide will transfer you to the train station for an excursion to the cradle of Russia: Veliky Novgorod. Here, you visit the beautiful Vitoslavitsy open-air museum with its unique wooden buildings. Afterwards, pay a visit to one of Russia’s oldest monasteries, the St George Monastery. Finally, move on to the main attraction of Novgorod: the impressive Kremlin, the most ancient stronghold in Russia. After this exciting excursion, take the train back to Saint Petersburg, where you will be transferred to your hotel for your last night in Russia.

Day 14Bye Bye Russia!

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then your driver will pick you up to transfer you to the airport. Your trip might come to an end, but you surely have made memories that will last you a lifetime. Board your flight back home, and have a safe journey!
