Day 1Hello, Helsinki!

Arrive at the Helsinki airport. Your guide will meet you at the airport and brief you about the itinerary for the coming days. You will be transferred to your hotel in Helsinki, a city that is a blend of history and modernity. Get some rest and look forward to an amazing Finnish experience during the days of this tour.

Day 2See the Superb Sights of Helsinki on a City Tour

Spend an interesting day discovering the capital city located along the Gulf of Finland. There’s much to see here–places rich in history and architecture, museums, cafés and a landscape with greenery, the sea and islands. Take a look at Temppeliaukion Church, a unique rock church with a copper dome. Since it is carved directly out of rock, the ambience inside is marvelous. Stop by the Helsinki tuomiokirkko (cathedral), that was built when Finland was still a part of Russia. See the beautiful white façade designed in neoclassical style topped with a green dome and other smaller domes. The interior is simple yet impressive. Get a look into the local life at the Kauppatori Market located by the harbor with stalls selling a range of items, souvenirs and food. Your tour includes a visit to the lovely Sibelius Park that also has an abstract sculpture in honor of composer Jean Sibelius.

Day 3Enjoy a Fun Day at Mustasaari Island

You will see a different aspect of Helsinki’s scenic landscape on your tour today. After breakfast, set off on an island visit to the west side of Helsinki. You will explore this fascinating place on a round trip cruise. Set off by ferry to visit Mustasaari Island known as the ‘Black Island.’ Covered by forests, you can spend time relaxing at this tranquil destination, unwinding on the beach, or discovering the trails, chapel, and lighthouse. There are plenty of photo opportunities. You can also relish a delicious lunch on the island. It is a nice little break from the urban side of the city. Afterwards, return to your hotel in Helsinki.

Day 4Cruise to the Old Town of Porvoo

You will travel to the alluring archipelago of Porvoo on a traditional cruise with J.L. Runeberg. Enjoy your boat trip which begins at Helsinki and takes around three and a half hours to arrive in Porvoo, the second oldest town in Finland. On arrival, you have two and a half hours to discover this charming town – the Venice of northern Europe – accompanied by your guide. Explore the cobblestone streets that have houses of different hues giving the area a vibrant look. Feel the old-world ambience when you look at some of the medieval buildings, cathedral, and history museum. One of the most captivating sights here is the rows of red wooden storage barns along the riverside. During your time in this town, you can also enjoy a traditional Porvoo lunch. Return to your hotel in Helsinki.

Day 5Go on a Day Tour to Delightful Turku

Set out on a day tour to Turku situated two hours away from Helsinki. Go sightseeing around the town that has quite a few cultural and historical places of interest. These include the cathedral located close to the banks of the Aura river, the central library, interesting museums, and the market square. Another delightful place is the riverfront dotted with various shops and cafés. Those coming to Turku also head towards the ocean to places including Naantali seaside resort and the Moomin World theme park. You will get a chance to visit the massive Archipelago National Park that is home to numerous islands, large and small. Discover various facets of this landscape on an exploration of the archipelago. It’s a riveting nature escape!

Day 6Head North to Lapland & Spend a Night in a Glass Igloo

Have you always wanted to see the northern lights? Catch a flight from Helsinki to the magnificent region of Lapland in the north of Finland. It is the land of Father Christmas, of the indigenous Sami people, and one of the best places to see the Aurora Borealis popularly known as the northern lights. After your arrival at Rovaniemi airport, head to your hotel and settle in. Over the next couple of days, you will explore the remarkable landscape situated near the Arctic Circle, and discover the wonderful attractions and experiences in this part of Finland. You may even be able to get your first look at the northern lights when you stay overnight in your Aurora Glass Igloo. If the northern lights do make an appearance, you can see it from the comfort of your bed.

Day 7Enjoy a Nature Trek and a Firewood Sauna

Have a good breakfast and get set to discover the fantastic scenery of the area. See the beauty of nature at the Auttiköngäs Nature Trail with the forest, river, and waterfall. Your guide will set up a campfire and prepare a light, tasty meal for you. Later in the day, you will have the chance to enjoy a lakeside sauna. Heated for a few hours in advance, this traditional Finnish firewood sauna will enable you to relax and let any stress melt away as you experience the mild steam. Then, you can cool off by taking a dip in the cold waters of the lake. Afterwards, your guide will take you to the middle of the lake, away from any form of light pollution, to look for the northern lights in the sky. Spend some time around an open fire for a traditional barbecue of pork sausage and a drink of blueberry tea. Feel the magic of the Arctic!

Day 8Chase the Northern Lights in the Forest

Learn about all things Arctic on a visit to the Arktikum museum today. Broaden your knowledge about Arctic animals, the indigenous Sami people, and local history from the ice age to the present. Other interesting sections include those about the history and culture of Lapland, and the northern lights. In the evening, you will set out on an exciting journey into the forest to chase the northern lights. Find the best spot to see the dazzling display of light and colors in the sky. When the magical auroras appear in the night sky, it has a hypnotizing effect. Since you will be accompanied by a professional photographer with night photography equipment, capture the perfect moments with the northern lights dancing above you. The photos will be sent to you online after the tour. Later, relax around a campfire with authentic Lapland food including soup, tea and reindeer sausage.

Day 9Goodbye, Lapland!

After your breakfast, bid goodbye to the enchanting landscape of Lapland. Proceed to the Rovaniemi airport/ railway station for your journey back home.
