3 Hours Before Flight Time
Arrive at Zvartnots International Airport. You will be met and transferred to your hotel in Yerevan. Enjoy some leisure time afterwards.
Begin your day in one of oldest cities in the world, Yerevan. Take a city tour in the capital, where you will encounter the main landmarks of this colorful city. Next you will visit the scientific and research center of the Matenadaran, where numerous ancient manuscripts and books are preserved and displayed. The huge complex is located on the hillside area of Mashtots Avenue, where the splendid panorama of the city will captivate you. Right after you finish your observation mission in the Matenadaran, you will head to the Megerian carpet factory, where numerous rugs exhibited in the museum of the factory reveal the long history of the Armenian art of rug-making. Have a traditional lunch with a delicious variety of Armenian cuisine. After a lovely lunch break, continue to the Armenian Genocide Memorial and Museum. In the evening, go for a stroll through the city.
Wake up and prepare for a day full of adventures. First, head to the 11th-century Fortress of Amberd, located on the slopes of the highest mountain of Armenia, Aragats. Visit the Vahramashen Church, situated next to the fortress, where you will have a short lunch break at a lovely picnic spot. Now it’s time to hike the southern peak of Aragats. On your way you will witness the beauty of Lake Qari with its cool and fresh water. As we reach the peak, you will be astonished by how big the sky seems, and the fascinating view of Mount Ararat. Depending on your wishes, you can also hike up to the East Summit. In the evening, drive back to your hotel in Yerevan.
In the beginning of the day, drive to the largest lake in Armenia − Sevan. Then, the tour will continue to Sevan peninsula, where you will be awarded with the ancient, black-hued Monastery Sevanavank and the breathtaking views over the top of the peninsula. Later, proceed to the Geghard Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Part of the monastery was cut out of the rock, which grants the visitors a marvelous picture of the Azat Valley. Your trip will continue onwards to Garni, where you will see the spectacular basalt rock formations. Later, hike up to the Pagan Temple of Garni and admire the magnificent natural scenery from the top. At the end of the day you will drive back to your hotel.
Today you will head to the southern part of the country. The first stop will be at Khor Virap Monastery, which stands high in the plain valley of Ararat. If the skies are cleaer, you will have a flawless view of Mount Ararat. Next, drive to the wine-making center of the country − Areni. Here, have a traditional Armenian lunch and taste some delicious local wine. Afterwards, drive to the Amaghu Gorge, where one of the most beautiful monasteries, called Noravank, is situated. This is a perfect location for taking photos and admiring the red cliffs. Later, return to Yerevan and enjoy some leisure time.
After breakfast, depart for the Armavir Province, where you will discover the main points of interest of this region. First, you will stop at the ruins of Zvartnots Cathedral, which was once a circular architectural masterpiece. Later on, visit the spiritual city of Armenia − Etchmiadzin. Take a tour inside the religious complex of the city, where the oldest church of the country is situated. Proceed to Aknashen Village, where hospitable people will be waiting for you to share a traditional lunch consisting of unique Armenian dishes. You will also have the opportunity to take part in the process of baking Armenian bread − “lavash.”
