3 Hours Before Flight Time
Your Arctic adventure begins when we meet you at Rovaniemi airport in Lapland before transporting you to the fabulous and unique Arctic SnowHotel and Glass Igloos. The hotel in itself is an interesting place and you will go on a guided visit to the amazing rooms, chapel and snow sauna. Relish in dinner at the Ice restaurant – a “cool” experience, for sure. Today, it is your first night in the Arctic Circle. Enjoy an overnight stay in the glass-roof igloo – a special way to sleep under the night sky and enjoy a Northern Lights experience depending on the weather. In case the Northern Lights make an appearance during the night, the Aurora alarm will wake you up.
After breakfast, get set for another amazing experience in Lapland. You will be transferred to the local husky farm to join a husky safari to the snowy forest. Learn how to handle these beautiful dogs and hop into a sleigh either as a driver or passenger. In the evening, you will learn a lot about the Northern Lights during a workshop presented by a skilled Aurora guide. Later, you will have the opportunity to go in search of these splendid lights in the sky. Go looking for the Auroras at some of the best spots around southern Lapland according to the forecast.
You have the day at leisure to discover the delightful attractions of Rovaniemi and the option to travel out of thhe city to embark on an excursion. Some of these include the Ice Breaker Cruise, and the Arktikum centre – an interactive science center and museum. You can also have fun on a snowmobile safari and visit Santa Claus Village with its fun activities and magical ambience.
Your tour today will take you across the border to Swedish Lapland and the scenic Abisko National Park. In the evening, you will head once again on the trail of the dazzling auroras in the marvelous landscape of Mount Nuolja by Lake Torneträsk, 250 km north of the Arctic Circle and 900 meters above the sea level. Yes, it is dark and cold up on Mount Nuolja, but these conditions are perfect to watch the Northern Lights dancing in the sky. During this wonderful experience, you will take the chair lift up the mountain for 15 to 20 minutes, bringing you closer to the sky for an enthralling experience.
Ever wondered about the indigenous community in Swedish Lapland? Today, you will get a chance to interact with them. Sami, the indigenous Lappish people have a rich and lively culture that has continued for generations. You will visit a small Sami village to meet the locals to get a glimpse into their lives, customs and activities. Ride in a sleigh pulled by reindeer, enjoy moments of relaxation sitting around open fires and taste reindeer meat. Experience the local way of living. You have the evening at leisure to spend as you wish.
Various beautiful landscapes and destinations are an integral part of your Arctic vacation. Today, you will board a train for a scenic journey that will take you through stunning Arctic valleys and frozen waterfalls from Sweden to Norway. You will reach the city of Narvik by the Arctic Ocean. From here, the tour will continue by bus to your next destination – Tromsö – where you will arrive by afternoon. Are you ready to go hunting for Auroras? Our knowledgeable local guides will take you to the best private spots to view the celestial spectacle of the Northern Lights. Small groups and several base stations around Tromsö make this trip flexible and comfortable.
You have the daytime free to discover Tromsö, “the Paris of the North” on your own. There is a lot to see including the Arctic Cathedral – with its modern look and architecture, panoramic cable car for spectacular views, Polaria aquarium, and beer brewery. Bring the evening to a fantastic close by going on a cruise. This cruise with dinner in the Arctic Ocean is a perfect way to end your Grand Aurora Tour. During this catamaran tour, you will get a different perspective and views of beautiful Tromsö with its lovely sights and the impressive Arctic Ocean.
After breakfast and check out, you can return to Rovaniemi by bus. Or you can get a transfer to Tromsö airport. Farewell!
