Sail by famous Hurtigruten up to the North Cape and taste local delicacies including King crab before spend a night in an aurora cabin to admire the Arctic sky and, if you are lucky, the Northern Lights, too.
3 Hours Before Flight Time
Upon arrival at the airport, look out for the friendly face of your chauffeur waiting for you in the arrivals hall. After assisting you with your luggage, your private transfer will drive you to your hotel in the heart of Inari which will be your base for the night. Don’t forget to look out the window and be awed by this quaint yet charming city, a jewel in the heart of Finland. Once you’ve checked into the hotel, feel free to freshen up and relax before enjoying the rest of the evening at your own pace and leisure discovering the city.
We hope that after a comfortable sleep and a delectable breakfast that you are ready for your first experiences in Finland. Today, we’ll begin with a visit to two local homes in a remote village before hiking through ancient woods along lakes and mystic mires. During the hike we’ll learn about Arctic nature, its plants, birds and other animals, and get to know Arctic super foods: berries and mushrooms. We will then meet a local reindeer owner and learn about reindeer and traditional Sámi handicrafts before enjoying an open-fire lunch.
This morning, we’ll head to the Sámi Museum Siida – the national museum of the Finnish Sámi population. Siida is a window into the north providing information on the ancient and vibrant Sámi culture and the Arctic nature. A visit to the museum gives you an all-encompassing look into the life and history of the indigenous Lappish people called Sámi. We’ll then cruise on the impressive Lake Inari, the third largest lake in Finland, which is home to over 3,300 islands. The cruise take us around the lake and to Ukko Island, a sacred island used as a Sámi sacrificial offering ground right up until the 19th century.
We hope that after yesterday’s adventure, you have had a restful night’s sleep because this morning we will be embarking on an overnight cruise to explore the Arctic Coast. Say goodbye to Inari and head towards Kirkenes in Norway to step on board the famous Hurtigruten cruiser. Enjoy relaxation onboard while getting lost in the stunning scenery until we arrive in Honnigsvåg early the next morning.
Today, we will discover North Cape and its surroundings. People have been traveling to North Cape for over 300 years but how could they reach this place at time before modern roadways? And what is life like here during wintertime? You will learn all this and more during your visit to famous Nor Cape Hall. In the afternoon, we will see and taste local delicacies including the famous King Crab as we head to Skarsvåg, the northern-most fishing village in the world. In Skarsvåg we kit you up with life vest before we embark on our boat and get ready for the sea. With a view of the North Cape cliff, we’ll go out into the fjord and lift up the king crab container to see if we caught something. Back on land, you’ll sit in the lavvo with reindeer skins, sea views, and enjoy the taste of fresh king crab

After check out, we’ll drive along the panoramic road along the Porsanger Fjord coastline towards Finland. On the way, we’ll have time to stop at panoramic places and local cafeterias to taste typical Norwegian delicacies like waffles with jam and cream. Spend your last night in a sky view cabin where you can admire the Arctic sky and who knows, maybe the Northern Lights too — through a glass roof when laying in your comfortable bed.
This morning you’ll have some free time to spend at your own pace and leisure, enjoying everything that this quaint city has to offer. Depending when your flight is, you may need to head straight to the airport. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end but we hope you have enjoyed your time exploring the very best that this region of Finland has to offer.
