After a refreshing breakfast, Day 2 will have you exploring the cobble stone streets of San Telmo with your local guide. You will see the colorful neighborhood of La Boca where you feel the heart of Tango beating and the atmosphere vibrating. Finally, walk along the esplanades like an aristocrat as you admire the huge palaces that give Buenos Aires the name, “Paris of The South”. After a brief rest at the hotel you will be escorted to Buenos Aires’ most cultural experience to be had. Eat and drink like an aristocrat as the beauty and richness of Argentina surrounds your senses. While enjoying the famous local cuisine, you will watch a spectacular Tango show performed by the city’s finest dancers. There is no dance that tells a bigger story of love and life than this piece of art. Did I mention you can drink all the Malbec you want?
After experiencing the flavor and vibrant modern life of Buenos Aires, you will love the more traditional and laid back flow of Salta. When leaving your private service plane that takes you north, you will notice the change in culture within a second. In Salta you can experience beautiful colonial architecture and outstanding museums. Grab an authentic coffee in the vibrant town plaza. If you like to people watch then head to the authentic peñas where the locals grab a table to enjoy their favorite folk singers. After some more delicious wine, you might even find yourself dancing to the music. In this city you will finally understand what the word “Siesta” actually means. The close down of stores for the midday rest period is sacred law to all locals.
Leave your suitcase behind as you are going on a 2-day journey of discovery and adventure. Your trip starts early in the morning as we drive through the famous route Train to the Clouds. You will not fight tiredness as the historic ruins, small villages and high desert plains will keep you wide awake. We will stop in some small yet impressive traditional villages and travel back in time to a pre-Incan city from the XIII century called Santa Rosa de Tastil. Do not forget to bring your charged camera when arriving at the Great Salt Flats. The surreal white salt flats perfectly reflect the natural light and the surroundings let you run wild with your imagination as you experiment with your photos. Once we reach our cozy hotel in Purmamarca make sure to look up. The surrounding is just surreal as the hotel is at the base of Jujuy’s famed 7-colored mountains.
After refueling with a tasty breakfast we will take a tour of the UNESCO Heritage Site inside the Humahuaca Gorge. Here you will put on your archeologist hat as you discover all types of civilizations. Discover human’s hunter and gatherer ancestors from 9000 B.C. See the rise of the Incan empire ruins of their cities that grew large and prosperous. Examine the Spanish settlements that conquered and led to the downfall of the Incas. Given all these world heritage sites in this area you will get a small glimpse into the stunning history of mankind. After we are done getting our Indiana Jones on we will head back to the modern comforts of Salta.
Once we leave the valley we will arrive to the deep red mountains of the Conchas Gorge. Stare at wonder at the odd shaped stones as countless years of erosion have molded these mountains into the most peculiar of shapes. Surround yourself with the natural beauty of the location and explore some castles, old amphitheaters and the famed Devil’s Gorge. Get ready for a change of pace since we now reached the part that involves relaxation, indulgence and yes, wine. Take a load off as we tour a local winery and refresh yourself from the day’s activities before we head back to Salta.
When you arrive in Puerto Iguazu, the gateway city to the impressive waterfalls, you will immediately notice the tropical smells, temperature and scenery. From mountains to jungle you will see the diversity of landscapes Argentina has to offer. As the last few days were packed with activities and travel, you will have some moments to soak in the jungle surrounding upon arrival. Catch your breath as you will need it when entering the impressive waterfalls of Iguazu.
Eat a hearty breakfast as today we will be following our experienced guide through some off beaten paths to make you soak in some of the best views on the Argentinean side of the Iguazu Falls. We will see everything that the jungle and majestic Iguazu National Park has to offer as you adventure through the trees. Hold your breath because Devil’s Throat will steal it away when you stare at the largest section of Iguazu falls. A moment to remember. We highly recommend you bring some extra clothes as you have the opportunity to take a boat right to the base of the falls. You will get wet! Here is where you truly see the immense power of nature. Today is the biggest adventure of the trip and you are in for some real thrills and an experience you will take with you forever.
