Itineraries

Day 1

Drive to Khor Virap and Noravank

Your first day will begin with a trip to the south. You will be picked up from your hotel in Yerevan in order to drive to the Monastery of Khor Virap, the jewel of the early Christian era, which overlooks the fertile plain of Ararat, one of the cradles of Armenian civilization. Then, reach your first hiking trail, located in the province of Vayots Dzor (Valley of Suffering), which was once an important stronghold of the Armenian nobility. From the village of Amaghu, begin your descent through a canyon that resembles the American West. Later, reach the Noravank Monastery, a 13th-century medieval masterpiece. Have a picnic nearby and continue your trek to the jewels of Bagratid Armenia, the Tsakhats Kar Monastery, and the Smbataberd Fortress. In the evening, head to your guest house in the village of Yeghegis.

Day 2

See Karahunj and the Tatevi Anapat Monastery

Leave Yeghegis to discover the southernmost region of Armenia, Syunik. Stop on the way to admire the megalithic complex of Karahunj. Then, you will be transported to your trail in the Vorotan Gorge, from where you will walk to Tatevi Anapat Monastery, which used to be the annex of the Tatev Monastery overlooking the Gorge of Vorotan, which you'll descend later. The monastery was a significant cultural, political and military center for Armenians during their resistance to foreign invasions. Later, take the Tatev cable car to reach Halidzor, where a vehicle will be waiting for you to take you to Goris. Have dinner and spend the night in a comfortable guest house in Goris.

Day 3

Discover Armenian Cross-Stones in Noratus

Early in the morning, discover Goris with its fairy chimneys and chapels located in the old part. Go up the hill of Lasti Khut which dominates the city and offers a gratifying overview. After descending to Goris, you'll have a meal in our guest house and later you'll head north through the Selim pass and its caravanserai that once served as a stopover for travelers from great trade routes. Next, explore Lake Sevan and its surroundings. Then, reach the village of Noratus, where the largest ensemble of Khachkars (cross-stones) of the present Republic of Armenia was discovered . Have a picnic and depart to our guest house in the village to spend the night there.

Day 4

See the Beautiful Sevanank Monastery and the Emerald Town of Dilijan

In the morning, head to the north, stopping in the Sevan Peninsula to admire the 9th-century Sevanavank Monastery and its panoramic view over the lake. Then, drive to the emerald town of Dilijan, where you will experience the first trekking of the day, from Gosh Monastery to a small clear lake in the forest. Then, return to the monastery, from where you will be driven to Dilijan and later take the second path and reach two monasteries, Jukhtak Vank and Matosavank, which are hidden in the forest. After finishing the hikes, enjoy a well-deserved rest and discover the Dilijan, a popular spa resort town. At the end of the day, continue to the northern town of Ijevan, capital of the province, to spend a night in a comfortable guesthouse.

Day 5

Hike to Lastiver and Swim in the River and Fabulous Waterfalls

Today is for relaxation in the mountains of Yenokavan village, boasting impressive landscapes. Begin your hike to the site of Lastiver located below at the bottom of the valley, where you can swim in the river and its fabulous waterfalls. After a picnic, go back to the village of Yenokavan, where you will spend the rest of the day at your leisure. You can choose (at your own expense) among the various activities offered (horse riding and zip-line) or simply relax. Return to your cottage in Ijevan by the evening. Hotels Haghpat - Sanahin - Odzun Day 6: Spend the Day in Lori and Hike Gorgeous Mountains Full of Landmarks Spend the day in Lori, where you will experience one of the most beautiful hikes of your stay. Begin the day with a visit to the monastery of Haghpat, then, hike the mountains that are rich in landmarks, such as Kusanats Anapat, Zarniayr, Kayanapert, the Church of St. Karapet and the monastery of Sanahin, one of the most famous masterpieces of Armenian architecture. Later, discover the 7-story tower and pass our final point, the Sanahin Bridge located below on the Debed River, a vital river for Armenia. During the tour you'll admire landscapes with steep canyons and divine green forests. At the end of the day, arrive at the Monastery of Odzun to admire a spectacular structure from the 5th century overlooking the valley of Debed. After the visit, return to your bivouac in Haghpat. Hotels Lake Qari - Aragats - Yerevan Day 7: Trek to the Splendid Aragats, Armenia's Highest Peak Our last day will consist in making the ascent to the highest peak of the Armenia, the Aragats. Leave Odzun very early in the morning and drive to the central region of Aragatsotn, where your vehicle will transport you to Lake Qari, a beautiful mountain lake with crystal-clear water located 3185 meters above sea level. Begin your ascent to the southern summit of Aragats and enjoy a delicious picnic at its top. The peak of the mount will reward you with alluring nature. Later, descend the mount and your driver will take care of your transfer back to your hotel in Yerevan.

Day 6

Spend the Day in Lori and Hike Gorgeous Mountains Full of Landmarks

Spend the day in Lori, where you will experience one of the most beautiful hikes of your stay. Begin the day with a visit to the monastery of Haghpat, then, hike the mountains that are rich in landmarks, such as Kusanats Anapat, Zarniayr, Kayanapert, the Church of St. Karapet and the monastery of Sanahin, one of the most famous masterpieces of Armenian architecture. Later, discover the 7-story tower and pass our final point, the Sanahin Bridge located below on the Debed River, a vital river for Armenia. Trek to the Splendid Aragats, Armenia's Highest Peak

Our last day will consist in making the ascent to the highest peak of the Armenia, the Aragats. Leave Odzun very early in the morning and drive to the central region of Aragatsotn, where your vehicle will transport you to Lake Qari, a beautiful mountain lake with crystal-clear water located 3185 meters above sea level. Begin your ascent to the southern summit of Aragats and enjoy a delicious picnic at its top. The peak of the mount will reward you with alluring nature. Later, descend the mount and your driver will take care of your transfer back to your hotel in Yerevan.
